Nope Movie Review (2022)
A nope movie review from a wannabe filmmaker and lover of sci fi movies! The latest release from visionary filmmaker Jordan Peele, “Nope” is a nail-biting sci fi thriller that will leave audiences on the edge of their seats. Peele, who brought us the breakout hit “Get Out” back in 2017, has once again outdone himself with this psychological and science fiction tour de force.
The Plot
Two siblings, running a horse ranch in California discover something mysterious and sinister in the skies above them. They must try to figure out what it is before a local theme park owner does. The two get help in figuring out the mystery from some interesting characters and race against time as the threat keeps increasing!
The Acting
The cast of “Nope” is top-notch, with Daniel Kaluuya and Keke Palmer leading the way. They are supported by an excellent ensemble cast, including Steven Yeun, Michael Wincott and Brandon Perea. Each actor brings their A-game to the table, resulting in some truly electrifying moments. Having said all that, I thought Kaluuya’s performance was well done but I didn’t like how quiet and laid back he seemed during a completely crazy situation. This is not an acting critique but a directing/writing issue I feel. He was told to be underplayed and understated, which makes his character bit boring in my opinion and less fun to watch.
The Direction
Peele is a master of suspense, and he expertly ratchets up the tension throughout “Nope“. The film is visually stunning, and Peele’s use of sound is particularly effective in creating an atmosphere of paranoia and dread.
Nope Movie Review Conclusion:
If you’re looking for a pulse-pounding thriller that will keep you guessing until the very end, then “Nope” is a must-see. Peele has once again shown why he is one of the most exciting filmmakers working today.
